Ghost bike up on Atlantic and Washington

A white ghost bike was put up a few weeks ago at the NE corner of Atlantic and Washington to commemorate the death of Jasmine Herron, a barista who was run over by a city bus after swerving to avoid the car door of a woman who suddenly opened it.

HuffPo weighs in on Atlantic/Washington/Underhill intersection

The Huffington Post has an article on the Prospect Heights/Clinton Hill death trap known as the intersection of Atlantic, Washington and Underhill Avenues.

Proposals for bollards and other traffic-calming measures are underway.

Steven Alan setting up shop on Atlantic Avenue

In the retail news of the day, Racked reports that Steven Alan is opening up near Atlantic and Bond. Interesting news.

Commenters on Racked are afraid they are going to take away Stuart & Wright's business, but I'd be more interested to see what the people at Hollander and Lexer are thinking. Especially since they may be located on the same block or less than a block away from each other in the near future.

Hopefully such competition will lower the prices on some of their Acne jeans.

Cathedral Condos asking nearly $700 psf

Here's a 2 bedroom, 1 bath unit at the Cathedral Condos at the corner of Atlantic and Washington that's asking $549K for only 800 square feet of space.

Quite a lofty endeavour, if you ask us.

Crown Heights storage robbed

The New York Times reports on a storage facility that was robbed at Atlantic and Grand on Saturday at 12:30PM. The author mistakenly calls it Prospect Heights, though.

Gruesome death at the NW corner of Atlantic and Washington

A dump truck jacknifed and fell on top of a passenger car and crushed the two passengers inside to death this morning. Washington was blocked off and no pedestrians were allowed to walk through at 7AM this morning.

The truck hit the car with such force that the car was pushed into the used car lot at the corner and shifted at least 5 of the cars. By tonight, the fence had already been replaced and a NYC Sanitation truck was sweeping off the remaining dirt from the accident.
