This could be for Union Market, which is coming to the former dollar store space at Fulton and Rockwell.

What's a false rumor? Union Market was confirmed in the Brooklyn Paper. See http://www.brooklynpaper.com/stories/31/1/31_01unionmarket.html

a red flag here is that the person wants to have food and wine in the same store. This shows his/her lack of experience in the NY market as licensing does not allow it - I think that just about anyone who has lived in NY for some time knows this.

Not that this means the concept will be doomed but it will be important that this person finds a very experienced manager to do this right. This type of business isn't a slam dunk, it's very important to pay attention to margins, spoilage, stock, etc. and there's lots of room for error.

If they can pull it off it sounds like a great addition to the neighborhood.
