Oro Condos worth their weight in gold

Elliman has put up the requisite teaser units and pricing on quite a few Oro Condo units. At right is a 1,208 square foot 2 bedroom, 2 bath with $805 monthly maintenance and less than $20 in taxes with an asking price of $930K. Looks like a lot of the units are in the $700's in psf measurement.

Brownstoner has the continuing 411 on the dirt being dug.

8:01PM has a point. The building is right next door to what seems to be an enormous housing project (Lafayette Gardens). Its so funny that while some people are rapping about getting out of there, others are paying millions to move in.

I'm from Chicago and my brother is moving to NY to do his recidence at Suny Hospital next year, he needs to be there for at least 4 years, so I'am considering bying a condo with him in a up-coming area in brooklyn. How bad is this area, was it a better area 5 years ago or worse, is $500,000 for a 1 bedroom condo a good price?

Well if you're from the south side it should be no sweat otherwise think ghetto 5 years ago and ghetto for the next 10. So 500,000 is a too much.

This area is 100x better than 5 years ago! It's a completely gebtrified neighborhood with all types of people, incomes, backgrounds, etc. It's still a lot of money, but Brooklyn is the new Manhattan, so if you have it to burn, buy it.

you can take the projects out of the hood but you can never take the hood... What am I saying? You can never take the project out of the hood.
