Price drop at new townhouse by Atlantic Yards

The Boymelgreen faux-brownstone at 518 Carlton has dropped its' listing price from $1.7MM to $1.599MM.

Aguayo has the listing here. This drop obviously must be a side-effect of being two paces from the nearly-imminent Atlantic Yards project.

it probably has more to do with the fact that it is one of the most hideous looking buildings ever built. on top of it all, it was designed by the same architect who has done some nice work for him in the past. i think she lost her mind during this stretch or something. all she had to do was put up a typical brownstone facade like the rest of the block and it would have sold at full price.

another thing.... the yards project it not nearly imminent. if it happens (and i doubt it will) it will be five to seven years before construction will begin in that phase two section. Legal actions will be delaying the illegal land grab for at least that much time.

I'll second that. Your a little ahead of yourself if you think this billion dollar boondoggle is going to be built as planned.

It would have been so easy to make this house more attractive. What a lost opportunity -- and, frankly, a slap in the face to a neighborhood that is being roundly abused by insenstive mega-developers these days. I'm talking of course about Ratner's self-created "blight" conditions. And what were they thinking when they didn't even bother to match the roofline of the adjoining brownstones? They actually managed to cheat themselves out of higher ceilings!
