Shoe Factory Lofts @ 242 Greene

There are new loft condominiums on the market and they certainly are enticing. Starting from the finishes to the spaces, to the light, to the up-and-coming area, what's not to like about these apartments?

Also note the very functional kitchens with the GE cooktops and the double-wall ovens (sure to please the baker in the family).

Located on Greene between Grand and Classon, these might be deemed a bit out of the way, but they are close to Pratt and the G train at Clinton/Washington.

There are 13 units, the smallest at 1170 square feet. Prices may be a slight reach for the area and at this point in time. A few 2,000 square feet ground floor duplexes are asking $795K, or $850K for a unit with a garden. Large 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1588 square feet lofts are $775K or $815K. Penthouses start at $710K (which was sold already). Common charges start at $481 per month, with no doorman as of yet.

These places are very nice. I've seen them as I walk by. They are pricey, but people around the corner paid $550K for 1000 square feet apts. a couple of years ago, so I'm sure these will go without too much problem. 2000 square feet is a lot of space, that's almost the size of a small townhouse! That block is getting nicer all of the time, but it's still some shady spots. Not for long, I guess. Now if there were just a few mores services close by, this nabe would be perfect.
