J Condo - the Joy of Living in Dumbo
After getting our call earlier this week to make an appointment, we went to the sales office today to check out what they had for us.
In line with today's de rigeur process of only releasing a few units each day, the $800-900K price range yielded the following:
- 10th floor corner unit, 1223 sq ft, 2 bed, 2 bath for $800K
- 11th floor corner unit, 1183 sq ft, 2 bed, 2 bath for $825K
- 6th floor corner unit, 1192 sq ft, 2 bed, 2 bath for $730K
- 20th floor corner unit, 1260 sq ft, 2 bed, 2 bath for $910K
- 4th floor corner unit, 1223 sq ft, 2 bed, 2 bath with 1479 sq ft outdoor terrace for $875K

nope, still in ft greene... not planning on moving to dumbo.. no worries.
Met with an "agent" named Andrew. A cocky temp broker (grey teeth spaced out, specs, crooked tie) who told me he didn't want to waste my time or his time by showing me any 1BR floorplans since I had initially asked to see studios.
hahah andrew whitehead. that's who i met with...did you think he was being condescending when he did that? i don't see why they need to release a few units at a time. that place will have a lot of units left over...
yeah i do! he was being condescending although he was probably pressed for time. But, it really isn't that much of an effort to hand over a few floor plans. i do not need a.w. to explain a floor plan to me not to mention cocky agents should know that word of mouth is the easiest selling tactic.
he told me they were averaging 6 sales a day.
I didn't find Andrew condescending at all. In fact, I thought he was refreshingly guileless; just a nice guy. I've looked at many properties in Dumbo and aside from the massive size and rather Bourgoise architecture, I think the J has it all over 70 Wash and the Beacon. Smarter finishes, better floorplans, more amenities. And the prices are almost rational.
