Dunkin Donuts KOs competition on Fulton St

The imminent arrival of the corporate interloper and behemoth, Dunkin Donuts, may have claimed its' first victim in the French patisserie on Fulton St and South Portland. I think its' name was either Au Petit Chou or Marquette. Either way, the neighborhood rumour-goddess has told us that in its' place will be an establishment well-known to latte-lovers. We are making an extrapolation here, but I believe Ceci-Cela will be moving into the space. Ceci Cela also has locations on Spring St and Chamber St in Manhattan.

Those who have had a chance to walk by the patisserie may have noticed a yellow placard on its' window, presumably telling the neighborhood they won't be there much longer. Can anyone corroborate?

Only time will tell if the other coffee spot on Lafayette and Cumberland will stay the course. We think that the eastern Ft. Greene area can support this place.

It's an interesting comment to say that dunkin was responsible for the patisserie going out of business.

There was an article I read last week about a long time bakery on Court street going out of business because people were more interested in the frou-frou places that charge $2 for a cookie.

I guess it just got me thinking about the different types of people these establishments cater to. The DD crowd is obviously very different than the patisserie crowd.

My guess is that something just wasn't being done right at the patisserie because I know the demographic is there. I doubt that DD could have been responsible as I think that those who would shop at a patisserie would not jump to DD just because it is closer/cheaper/etc.

according to the sign on the front of the store, it says they are undergoing 'store reorganization' with new drinks, pastries, etc to come in two weeks. so maybe they didn't sell it out. they just had an attitude check so that they could compete in the dunkin' donuts era.

I was just there and they say that they will be serving all day brunch during the week and breakfast on weekends starting Wednesday (July 20).
I don't think they're going out of business.
