Body by Brooklyn - at Manhattan prices

A new business, Body by Brooklyn, in the Ft. Greene/Clinton Hill area has come to our attention. It is a full-service day spa located at the very unlikely location of 275 Park Avenue, underneath the BQE. If we recall correctly, this is the building known as the Chocolate Factory Lofts and which also houses the Mojito Cuban restaurant.

Judging from the website, there is a full complement of services, including steam rooms.

The one issue that we have, and we would guess, that most other people who would fit their demographic would have, is that their prices are prohibitively expensive for this area. We compared some services to Bliss Spa in Soho and the BBB prices are more expensive. We officially deem that this place will not last long with such prices. But then again, perhaps their rent at 275 Park Avenue is very cheap. That only means that the owners are looking to line their pockets.

Case in point: BBB 60 minute foot reflexology for $100. At Bliss - a bargain at $90. BBB manicure for $30. At Bliss - $23. I'm sorry, but a business located underneath the BQE in fringe Ft. Greene/Clinton Hill should not be more expensive than a luxury spa located in Soho.

Stick a fork in BBB; unless this business is not open yet and prices are for illustrative purposes only.

About a month ago I noticed BBB and went in to check it out but the woman behind the counter wasn't very friendly. I did get a pamphlet and asked a few questions about services and the on-site restaurant, but the cold demeanor and the looks I got from the other two women turned me off.

It is a high end hot-sheet motel: http://bodybybrooklyn.com/spaservices/packages.htm#duets

I have to agree - I wasn't impressed with their service as well. It doesn't really have a pampering environment. The "relaxation" room for pre- and post-treatments is surrounded by televisions and a bar. I much prefer some Manhattan spas as this price point.

I live in the neighborhood and it's a great facility. I was super skeptical until I booked a massage and spent an additional 3 hrs chilling. The brunch is great and they have a full bar. You really feel like you're not in New York. Super clean, helpful staff, diverse clientele, fab wet bar. Definitely worth checking out.

This is by far the best Banya (for Spa/ Sauna) in the city. For those of you into authentic Russian/Turkish Saunas this is the place to go. They've got a steam room and two dry heat saunas.I loved the decor of the lounge. Great service. Great food..

You should find out all the information before you ruin someone's business...
That service (and all of them) include use of their incredible Wet Lounge. (2 saunas, 1 steam room, a cold plunge pool and a jacuzzi)for the entire day, if you want.
Normally entrance is $40 for that alone...
Now, THAT is a bargain.
