St. Marks modern on sale

We've seen this modern rendition quite a few times while driving around the neighborhood. Only a block away from the Washington Condos, the price tag is a hefty $2.4MM. Corcoran has the listing.

It is a 25x50 home on a 116 foot long lot. See the cutaway view far right.

Anyone know the pedigree on this house? The same block has a parking lot and some empty lots that are probably gearing up to be condos.

Husband and wife design/build team. I think it's very well built.

I don't think the parking lot is going condo just yet. There are plans for new development across the street, though.

I have been inside that house. The architect is living there with his wife and family. The GC who built the house is the architect's brother. It was built under the allowable FAR, as they want to live there, however it could support more upbuilding, if the new buyer is interested. The rental apartment is only a studio. I don't even know why they built it. It is built and designed like a single family house, but has a rental studio on the side.

I walk by this house all time on my way to the train and think it's one of the most god ugliest facades in the nabe. Is it legal to set a place back from the street by that much? The facade is dark, the set back from the street makes it look very uninviting and the windows are tiny.

The photos of the inside the house make it look sunny and airy, but I can't figure out from the side view drawing how big the main living space really is. No square footage listed on the Corcoran site. Any guesses?
