New liquor spots to open on Lafayette
Two places - one to the right of the corcoran office on Lafayette and one to the left of La Bagel Delight.
Anyone have the scoop on what kinds of places these will be? No doubt, this will result in the corner of Lafayette, and Fulton as being the de-facto night-out spot in Fort Greene. In addition to these two, you have Stonehome, Moe's, Frank's Lounge, Habana Outpost and Scopello.
This will indeed rival the corner of Adelphi and Dekalb for most-happening-spot in Fort Greene, which is anchored by Red Bamboo, Chez Oskar, Madiba, June, etc..
What's your vote? Our experience has been that these two corners hold court for most Ft. Greeners depending on where they live. If you live closer towards BAM, Fulton and Lafayette is where you're at. If you're closer towards Myrtle, Willoughby and Pratt, you're headed to the Dekalb spots.

The place next to "La Bagel" is going to be some kind of bar and grill thing...i've heard that owner is going to be some buy who ran a place in DUMBO...
The fellow's name is Dave and he managed Water Street Bar in DUMBO. He and his wife are opening this place where, from what he told me, it's going to be New American food with televisions in front at the bar for sports.
water street bar is OK, but i'm not going to get my hopes up for the new place in fort greene. will try it at least once, though.
Met the owner the last week in June on my way to the laundromat....................he seemed dead on.
Hopefully they'll get Setanta Premium.
Hi all.....I heard the place in between Corcoran and Academy is going to be a burger joint and the old Cambodian Restaurant, is going to be a Bar-B-Q joint.
I believe the South Elliot/Lafayette corner spot will be called Mulanne's (sp?) Bar and Grill. In their signs out front they seem to be pushing the sports aspect - if the crowds outside Scopellos and Cafe Lafayette for the World Cup are interested in other sports I guess it could work.
Has anyone heard anything about the space above Academy diner? It seems like it been vacant and looking for a retail tenant for about a year now.
Cambodian Cuisine is going to become a BBQ/smokehouse joint. The owners have posted an ad spoofing the Miami Vice movie promo poster: one of the owners is black, the other guy is white, and they are shown wearing their shades like Crocket and Tubbs.
Place next to La Bagel is going to be "Mullanes" according to their banner, which had said they'd be open "in time for all the World Cup action," but then, that wasn't the case.
Apparently the place next to Scopello will be a gourmet burger joint.
The corner at Fulton, Lafayette, and South Elliott is going to be loud as heck once all the new places are built; already just with Frank's across Fulton and Moe's around the corner, it's very loud on weekend nights. God only knows what'll happen once the BAM development gets underway, and if the Atlantic Yards project is started...
