Further fallout from the A/C debacle

The signal room fire at the Chambers St. stop has provided no end of argument and discussion in the blogworld. Our article begat many others, especially on Curbed. This was a response to the previous one. Even Daily Heights rang in.

Our own experience this morning? A normally 15 minute commute between the C train stop at Lafayette Avenue to the Canal St. stop in Tribeca turned into a 35 minute commute that went this way: Grab V train at Lafayette, get off at West 4th, walk down the steps, cross over to the downtown side, walk up the steps, grab the A or E train and take it two stops to Canal St.

This evening's trek took us to the Canal St station in hopes of catching an A, seeing all these people drudge up the steps, then doubling back to the Franklin St stop of the 1/9, taking it downtown one stop to Chambers, transferring to the 2/3, taking it to Atlantic Avenue and walking up Lafayette. Total time: 50 minutes.
