NY Mag reviews the General Greene

The old spot of June restaurant is now the General Greene. This week's New York Magazine gives accolades to the new spot, mentioning its "notion of seasonality and market sensitivity."

The vitals:
The General Greene
Address: 229 Dekalb Ave., at Clermont Ave., Fort Greene; 718-222-1510
Hours: Dinner, Tuesday through Sunday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.; weekend brunch, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Prices: Small plates, $3 to $12.
Ideal Meal: Radishes with sea salt and anchovies, lamb-and-watermelon salad, grilled steak, bbq baked black beans, cookies.
Note: The wine and beer list is small, with a few local nods, and Nathan, the barkeep, takes his drinks very seriously.
Scratchpad: The epitome of NBC (New Brooklyn Cuisine), the General Greene fills the neighborhood-restaurant niche, with expectations-exceeding food and casual but crackerjack service. Four stars.

Meh. Sounds like they knew they were coming in advance. Service was a little sloppy when we were there, and the drinks are overpriced. The food is good. Also, I'm not one to be bothered by this normally, but General Greene is VERY LOUD. It was almost impossible to have a one-on-one conversation without shouting.

After the disaster that June had become, my husband and I had high hopes for The General Greene. Sadly, the service was absolutely awful - our server paid little attention to us and had to ask my husband what his drink order was after nearly 20 minutes. To wait that long for drinks is ridiculous, and even though the food was tasty, the service was horrible. The server had also neglected to tell us how hot our plates were. My husband's nearly burnt his hand while trying to adjust all the dishes on our table while the server stared. It is a very loud place with little wiggle room. Overall, not an enjoyable dining experience. Won't be going there again since Fort Greene has many other places to go for a better meal.
