Partial demolition to begin for Atlantic Yards project

The Times reports that LZA Technology, an engineering firm, has recommended 6 buildings to be demolished next month in the footprint of the AY project.

Among those listed were:
  • two former auto-repair garages on Pacific Street,
  • two unoccupied apartment buildings at Dean Street,
  • the Underberg Building on Atlantic Avenue,
  • and another building on Dean Street near Carlton Avenue

how is one to describe the scum that Ratner is? to start tearing down buildings and desecrate an area before his plans are even approved... i pray every day that this man has a stroke and lives the rest of his life paralyzed with his scowl on his face..

I've been out of the loop. Did that "environmental impact" study ever get done? I heard that it was pretty much a sham anyway, but what's the time table?
Are there any further hurdles for FCR other than the eminent domain lawsuits, or is this finally now a done deal?

I think people take there hate for ratner just a step to far dont forget his just a subsidary of a even bigger company.

no its not a done deal in anyway. the draft environmental impact statement is not even due out til mid march or later.

there are new laws being written on the federal and state level that will effect the use of eminent domain.
there will be lawsuits on the use of eminent domain. as well as the environmental issue. there is a turning political tide against ratner. and most of the public doesn't like the project either. done deal? far from it.
